boom chicka wah wah

so it's tuesday and there's quite a bit going on. friday night was a trip to clearwater with k to meet some friends of his for beach blanket bingo - which turned into late night swimming in the gulf which was pretty sweet. except for some jackholes (also dubbed "jackyls") making noise leaving their light on, it was pretty fun. saturday night was lindsey's party, a few drinks at fridays, and a few games of bowling - a 177 followed by a sad 130-something (i was thrown off by all the friggin quiche i probably shouldn't have eaten). whatever. sunday was a lazy ass day. too bad i still spent 200 dollars and then another 100 the next day at ross. at least my wardrobe is getting better. i got two mx chicks in the mix, which is nice, since for a while, it was all downhill. although it looks like n ain't gonna pan out, i'm strangely excited for this. i know i was going for organic, but f it. who has the time?

summer breeze, makes me feel fine

firstly, two old songs i haven't heard in a while: "summer breeze" and "tide is high" by blondie. both pretty decent. summer breeze hit me because tuesday night i was on the beach in melbourne at about 11 PM and it was awesome. then last night was perfect - right around 75 at night. florida is amazing. here's the dilemma. flip lite 2.0 is starting to morph into what i was c2 to be. so i'm going to have to decide if it will simply merge into it or what. more on that as it develops.

progress progress...

Lots of progress on Flip Lite 2.0. i actually added some features that i don't have in the ft blog. Sadly, adding them will probably be a lot of work since this blog is pretty friggin seriously customized. But still, I hope to get it done soon. Then c2. In the meantime, the new spam filter we have at work is so damned cool. I cannot wait til I tighten the filters. Lastly, Terrapin Station, one of the coolest songs ever.

building a religion

i am addicted to f'ing with flip. no matter what i do, i can't stop adding, tweaking, playing. you'll notice the little permalink button now. sure, i messed with the styles to get it to do that, but that's not all. now, blog.php scans archives to look for the entry, meaning even archived news is dynamically searched for permalink stuff. no small feat - it took some jiggling to get it to work. that, however, is not part of fl2. fl2 cannot do archiving, and won't try to. i need to solidy the feature list and get it on tubecode.org.

Thoughts on Trey's Seis de Mayo

Trey Anastasio's new album, Seis de Mayo, has really got me thinking. See, i'm a die hard Phish fan, but since the hiatus, I've lost some of the zeal (evidenced by the staling of sethadam1.com). I'm not alone, most major Phish sites on the web have been neglected or, in the case of Andy Gadiel, who ran one of the most visited phish sites on the internet, folded completely. Even the phish.net has slowed down. once the center of all things Phish, phans now turn to the much more timely phantasytour for their setlist information and current news. Why are so many phans losing the passion? See, i think the problem is that most fans, during the hiatus, found new exciting music that didn't mean wading through a velvet sea of 30,000 fans and a ticket scramble just to see them play. That's attractive. and as much as we all love Phish, they aren't the only band in the world to do what they do. Trey, however, has gotten pretty far out there. His work with the Trey Anastasio Band in 1999 was far from Phishy - the band was sloppy and loose, very different from the tight and synced...

so i got my new comp package. that's nice. too bad it took me four months and my company showed me little to no respect, condescended to me, and nickel and dimed me to shit. what cheap bastards. going to meet N tonight. hope she's cool. i'm so not in the mood for another bum experience. i'm tired. i am going to sleep good tonight. tomorrow, i'll a little more, because i want to record all going on with flip c2.

why you gotta be a sucka?

this weekend was fun, despite saturday sucking to an extreme degree. i'll leave the work crap in the past - yesterday we took the sand rail out to ocala national forest and burned up the sand paths, then went to alexander springs for swimming and grilling. danielle has a friend (who looks spot on for natalie merchant) whose husband is into phish and moe. and sci and that scene, so hopefully i can meet another head in town. i will probably not tell him how sickly of a crush i had on nm not so many years ago. cause it sucks going to concerts alone, but i'll do it.

flip lite bug. damn.

double damn. bug in flip lite. apparently, yours truly did some poor function research. but i can't be the only one to not realize that the time format for strftime() is not the same as date(). so, if you set $_locale to TRUE, you'll find that unless you HAPPEN to use characters that work, you could end up with something very different than you though. worse, the locale is still server time - not client time. i would have assume that the http get request would include some sort of locale identifier which would be used in the strftime() gen, but no. not the case, apparently, so i redid the time portion, and it will now customize, but not on a per client basis. instead, on a timezone basis using putenv() and strftime(). yes, this is all pretty geeky. but it works, dammit.
