Making the Case for My Favorites

I will be featuring a regular "column" on sethadam1.com from now on, updated periodically, called "Making the Case for My Favorites." I will attempt to justify why my favorite Phish songs are worthy of praise, and why my least favorites are less likeable. I encourage everyone to participate in the comments if you're interested, and if you get the urge, use the "submit story" link to write your own "Making the Case." The first "Making the Case," will be about a few songs. I believe that Billy Breathes is the best recorded Phish song ever, and possibly one of my favorite recorded songs ever. I'll even attempt to justify it. I'll also try to convince you that Limb by Limb defines Phish as a "great" band. The Billy Breathes album is a studio masterpiece. From the opening thumps of Free to the final bubbles of Prince Caspian, Billy follows a consistent theme, so much so that the last half of the album is linked together in what's known as "the Blob." The Blob got its name based on the fact that it's one super long song, all in the same keys, sharing, in some cases, some lyrics, but certainly some...

Summer Tour

With Summer tour only a few days away, what are the songs you're most interested in hearing? Are they new, Round Room-era songs, or are you jonesing for some oldies? I was just playing around and decided that, if I could have Phish play today, here's what I'd want to hear. Some of my picks are surprising, since I've already heard them many times. Here's what on my mind, in no particular order: Buried Alive, Forbin's > Mockingbird, Piper, Glide, Peaches en Regalia, Ghost, Birds of a Feather, Dog Log, and maybe Trey's "Drifting."

Ah shucks.

Well, if it wasn't clear before, it should be by now that this weblog has once again staled. I wonder how you keep a weblog fresh if it doesn't really have any visitors. I don't know. So, in other news, Flip 3.0 is coming along at a ridiculous rate. It's actually working right now, believe it or not, and better than I expected. I moved sethadam1.com onto the same server as phatphiles.org, which is pretty neat. Now, it's running a server I have root on, which is pretty sweet, and I can upgrade or alter PHP if the whim strikes me. Work is coming along well. Surprisingly so, actually. There's so much to do - so much. If they continue to let me, I'll turn that place into something really friggin great. But, man, it has so far to go... I promise, to the no one that reads this, I intend to write more in it. I guess I've been occupied with Flip and sethadam1.com and phatphiles and not had time to sit down to play. But I will. I really will. ...someday.

Yep. It's been awhile since I've written, less because I don't care as much as I've been busy. I haven't had time to sit down and write anything sizeable. But that's not for lack of content. Au contrere! Between the new job, the recent cruise, jd, Flip 2.1, and my sister's graduation, there's been so much crap going on I don't know where to begin. I guess it's safe to say that I'll have to recommit. I'm going to finish the new Flip theme I'm working on. When it's done, I'll put it up here, and maybe that will give me the energy to catch up. I hope.

Sweet ....Flip 2.1

I had some trouble concentrating. That's what I'm telling myself. That's why I took my time with Flip 2.1, the first version to use a "code name." So, "Lobster" is now complete and released. In follow up, I want to complete some themes, all of which will be compatible with Shark, which is Flip 2.2's code name. I will get around to upgrading this weblog to 2.1 soon.

Finally Got a Piece of the Pie

So, I finally got a job here, which is a relief, since my cash stash is running strangely low. How I managed to spend 3500 bucks since I got here is beyond me, but I pulled it off. F'ing car payment, bills, insurance, etc. Anyway, I'm pretty psyched to be the new "systems manager" for Massey Services, a pest prevention/lawn care company in Maitland. I start Tuesday. More on that as it develops. That's about all.

Dog.

I'm going to put a deposit down on my schnauzer this week. I'm pretty psyched. New names in consideration: 1. Stanley 2. T.S. 3. Jules 4. Vonnegut 5. Skippy (yeah, it's still around) I s'pose I'll have to wait until I see the dog to actually name him though.
