Articles abound...

Here's a freaky story: click here

This article maintains, as some I've seen before, that 9-11-2001 was a huge conspiracy. Not likely, I'd say, but it poses some interesting points about what an administration COULD do to further its own agenda. If you have...well...a good amount of time, take a read.

This, however, is hilarious:

As reported right here, road workers in England couldn't be bothered to move a dead badger from the road while repainting the lines. Gotta love the Brits.

He was such a stupid git...

I'm so tired. I was at work for like 12 hours today. Admittedly, I the last hour was me just yapping about at Identix, but I'm feeling completely and totally energy-less. I'm so tired that even though I have dinner downstairs I want to call Dominos and try their new "kicker" boneless chicken wing things.

Whenever I say I'm going to go to bed early, I never do. So, although I'm dog tired, I guarantee I'll be up until midnight.

What I wanted to write is that until about 2 hours ago, I hadn't paid much mind to tomorrow being 9-11 and all. However, Tommy Ridge jacked us up to Code Orange on the Homeland Security scale, and now I'm thinking, "Man, if I were a terrorist, and I were going to somehow suicide bomb something or other, 9-11 would be the day to do it - I'd seal it as a day that every American would be scared s**tless forever!" Gotta say, now I'm kinda scared for tomorrow. I think something is going to happen, and I'm praying it ain't in DC.

F Late Fees, Use Netflix

Netflix rules. I can't say it enough. Blockbuster was a great idea, and it truly brought films into the household, but Netflix is the next generation. You pay for a standard level each month, the default is $19.99, for 3 movies. When you watch it, you just send it back in the postage-prepaid envelope they send you and they send you another. No limit, except you can only have three max at a time (there are other levels, some less expensive, some more). If you watch a lot of movies per month, it's a great deal. Keep them as long as you like, no late fees, EVER, just pay your flat monthly fee. You can even queue up movies online and they just take care of sending you what you wanted. No catch.

weblog status update

Yo - thanks to you jerks and your requests, you can now comment on each item submitted. This is good, it means we don't have to waste the log itself commenting back and forth. Still feel free to post as much or as little as you like, but use the comments thing if you like. There's no admin page for the comments right now - once you submit, it's there for good. The only way in is through the server. Anyone can comment, whether they post to this weblog or not. If you submit your e-mail it will be visible to all. It can also accept a URL instead of an e-mail address. Otherwise, you can just leave that field blank. I'm going to watch some movie called "Mildred Pierce" now. If it's not good, Stine's in for it. **update**Although you may not realize what you're looking at, it originally began as a project FOR WORK. Since I started this thing about a week ago, it's truly become a web application - and there are still features we're not using yet - archiving, full text search, user groups... So have fun, we're essentially the first people on the internet to...

Comedy Central rules

I think the show Crank Yankers is hilarious. It's on Comedy Central, and everytime I watch, it cracks me up. Sure, there are some not so inspired skits, and yes, sometimes they bail a little early, but Jimmy Kimmel and crew have whipped up a hilarious "Jerky Boys of the 00's" with this show.

Tracy Morgan, who I've always only found "kinda" funny, is the real star here. His "Spoonie Luv" character kills me. Dennis Leary and whoever does that hippie college student are also friggin hilarious. If you get a chance, watch it. Tuesday at 10:30. I think.

That's not the only show on Comedy Central that's funny as hell. Those of you mourning the demise of Jackass will find the show "Trigger Happy TV" hilarious, as well as anotehr Brit import, "Travel Sick." Trigger Happy TV had me in tears last week - imagine how funny stuff is once you factor in an accent. Since the only other show on TV that really makes me laugh is "The Cosby Show," I'm glad to see Comedy Central putting those crazy Brits on. Go, Comedy Central, go.

These Days, Reading Books is too much Effort

I have to say, I buy into "reading." Reading is what intelligent people do - it's a sign of intellect, and those who read tend to be captivating and interesting. But lately, movies have been doing it for me, not books. I can't get myself to read a friggin book.

I've seen a lot of good movies. Some old Hithcock films, and very recently, "The Tao of Steve," which I liked. I watched "The Minus Man," in which some comedians put a fairly freaky story together. I really want to buy Bottle Rocket on DVD -- in fact, could one of you please buy it and give it to me?

It's sad to say, but it's getting to be truer by the day. Who would've ever though that movies are the books of the 21st century?

I've got a comment for ya, right here

Two people have now suggested I write a module for posting "comments" to each submission. I think it might be doable, but it mght be some work. Is it worth it? Write me and let me know if you want to see that......

Hello and welcome to AOL Moviefone!

The proposal Keith and I have maintained for years is that the Moviefone guy should be a cheery Canadian. Just imagine:

"Hello, buddy! Thanks for calling AOL Moviefone! Ey, what movie to you want to go oot and see? Enter the province you'd like to search NOW....."

"Let's see, guy, the closest theatre to you is aboot 6 miles doan the street; pretty close, ey?"

For my two cents, this would make for a friendlier moviefone.

I'm going to slap JeN around

Well, the cat's out of the bag for me, thanks to JD, and now I'll definitely have some 'splainin to do to those I never let know about theonion. On the other hand, it's been a positive experience in general because even though I feel slightly demeaned by the entire experience, I've met some cool people and it's certainly kept me entertained. And you know what? It's nice to get e-mail from someone who thinks you're amusing. So, the answer, I guess, is "Go ahead and try it." You really have nothing to lose except a small piece of pride, and truthfully, I lose that regularly anyway, for example, right after my post on "fonts."

The internet has become an legitimate and socially acceptable forum for meeting - and e-mail is one of the best measures of personality, a shitload better than old school personal ads, blind dates, and frankly, even bars. My advice, if you're single, let go of your hang ups and give it a whirl. Dad, chime in when ready.
